The Continuing Professional Development (CPD) division of the Department for Continuing Education provides high-quality, flexible, part-time education specifically tailored for adults and complementing the work of the University in full-time education. CPD develops innovative courses and training resources at postgraduate level to meet the changing needs of a wide range of professional practitioners, providing a powerful means of transferring knowledge and research to the work place.
CPD delivers some course face-to-face, some online and others in a hybrid mode, and courses range from professional-updating short courses through to part-time Master's and DPhil programmes. Courses are held in software engineering, bioinformatics, biosciences, health sciences, technology (including nanotechnology, systems engineering, electronics and telecoms), mathematical finance, business and scientific skills and the applied social sciences. Tailored courses are available for companies and professional groups at their own premises.
In addition to part-time course provision, CPD works in many areas of knowledge transfer, enterprise and collaboration, identifying and exploring new fields and markets. We work to ensure that Oxford is recognized as one of the world-leading universities to which individuals and organisations automatically look for continuing intellectual enrichment and continuing professional updating.
