Support the department
The need for educational opportunities that extend throughout life is now recognized in all sectors of modern society: an intensive period of initial education, even of the highest quality, is simply not sufficient in times of rapid social, economic and technological change. Through the work of the Department for Continuing Education, Oxford is recognized internationally as a leading provider of opportunities for extended learning for purposes of professional and personal development.
The Department draws on over 125 years' experience of providing high-quality, flexible, part-time education specifically tailored for adults, complementing the work of the University in full-time education. We offer opportunities ranging from open-access weekend and summer schools to part-time postgraduate taught and research degrees.
The Department for Continuing Education is the door through which dedicated students can start or continue their education. We enrol over 15,000 students per year. From a one-day class in local history to post-doctoral research in evidence-based health care, there is a course for everyone with the talent and motivation to learn.
The Department has ambitious plans for the future, to communicate the University of Oxford’s scholarship beyond the full-time student body, nationally and globally, both here in Oxford and via the web. We welcome donations of all sizes.
