This one-day course is part of the Nanotechnology Summer School 2014 on nanotechnologies in biology. It can be taken individually or as part of the one-week Summer School.
The programme for the Interaction of Nanomaterials with Biological Systems course introduces applications of nanoparticles in medicine and healthcare, and discusses the fate of nanoparticles in the environment as well as their use for environmental remediation. Topics covered include:
- Nanoparticle interactions at the cellular level
- Nanomaterial interactions at a whole organism level
- Nanoparticles in medicine
- Nanoparticles and their fate in the environment
- Ecotoxicology of silver and zinc nanoparticles to freshwater microbial communities
- Uptake and effects of nanoparticles in soil invertebrates
- Nanotechnology and environmental remediation
This one-day course is one of five held as part of the Nanotechnology Summer School 2014. Delegates can enrol on one day, more than one day, or for the whole week - there are discounts available for students and for those enrolling on all five days of the Summer School.

Accommodation is available at the Rewley House Residential Centre, within the Department for Continuing Education, in central Oxford. The comfortable, en-suite, study-bedrooms are rated 4-star, and come with free high-speed internet access and TV. Guests can take advantage of the excellent dining facilities and common room bar, where they may relax and network with others on the programme.
Summer School fees include electronic course materials, tuition, refreshments and a three-course lunch. The price does not include accommodation. All courses are VAT exempt.
Student discountsWe offer a discounted fee to students in higher education. The student fee rate for one day of the Nanotechnology Summer School is £150.00. A further discounted student fee rate is also available when you enrol on all five days of the Summer School together. Five day discountThe full fee for all five days of the Summer School when taken individually is £1,475.00, however a discounted fee of £1,340.00 is available when you enrol on all five days together.
