Overview

Have you ever thought of teaching English as a foreign language (EFL) or simply wondered what might be involved? This is a practical workshop designed to give an overview of what goes on in the modern EFL classroom, and the skills and attitudes required of a language teacher. You will gain preliminary insights into how to analyse language for teaching purposes, and how to go about planning different types of language lessons. This will be illustrated with short video clips of EFL classrooms.

The workshop is suitable for people with little or no experience of language teaching, and for people who have enrolled, or are considering enrolling, on a Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Cert TESOL course. There will be an opportunity at the end to ask questions, including queries about qualifications and careers in TEFL.
