  • Revolutionary Europe 1789-1919
    Revolution has been the most powerful dynamic in European politics and society from 1789 to 1919. All over Europe radical citizens and reforming governments changed laws and ruling structures in a way which has created the forms of modern Europe today.
  • The War of The Roses: Power, Politics and Personalities (Online)
    The recent discovery of Richard III's remains in Leicester highlights the dynamic new research being conducted into the period known as the Wars of the Roses. This courses asks students to engage with the latest work on this exciting and tumultous period.
  • Europe in the Cold War 1947 - 1961
    Between 1947-60 Europe lay at the centre of the ideological Cold War. this course examines the impact of the Cold War on Europe - East and West - and the impact of Europe on the Cold War.
  • Edwardian Ferment – Britain in the New Century
    The course looks at tensions in Edwardian society as new concepts and challenges encountered the remaining Victorian conservatism. Covering cultural and social history, we will study the arts, working- class movements, leisure, role of women, sport etc.
  • A Troubled Britain: Two Centuries of Protest
    From political agitation, religious discord to single-issue demands, British society has often been confronted by dissenting voices. Starting in 1815 we will examine these protests, seeking to understand the nature of these challenges to the status quo.
