- Castles in Britain
The building of castles after 1066 reflected the imposition of a new feudal aristocracy upon English society. This course will explore the evolution of castles and their changing military, administrative and domestic roles during the Middle Ages.
- Undergraduate Advanced Diploma in Local History
The Advanced Diploma in Local History is a one-year part-time course which aims to train students in key concepts and methods of historical studies. The course is at FHEQ Level 6, equivalent to study in the third year at a university in the UK.
- English Landscape Gardens: 1650 to the present day (Online)
This course is the ideal introduction to English garden history. It provides an overview of five centuries of development, from Baroque formalism through the naturalistic landscape style, right up to contemporary cutting-edge planting style.
- DPhil in English Local History
It is possible to study for a doctorate by part-time research in English Local History. Students studying for the DPhil part-time normally study between 4 and 6 years. This compares with a full-time DPhil which normally takes 3-4 years to complete.
