    This two-year, part-time course in the History of Art is an introductory course for students who wish to develop their knowledge of the subject It is suitable for students who are interested in the arts but who have no previous study of the subject.
  • Italian Renaissance Art in Oxford and London
    This course will bring students into direct contact with visual images. The course will cover the art of the 15th and early 16th c. in Italy and will use images available in the collections of Oxford and London as the starting point for class discussions.
  • Constantine: a cultural history
    An in-depth study of Roman history, culture, art, and architecture, in the 4th century. We'll begin with Constantine's conversion to Christianity, and study the first Christian churches, as well as other buildings, paintings, mosaics, and sculptures.
  • Modernisms: Art and the Radical Tradition 1848 - 1914
    This course examines how the Modernist experimentalism of 1848-1914 both reflects and contributes to the breathtaking pace and intensity of social and political change in Europe, seeking to influence the course of history itself.
  • Five Young Artists on the Eve of the Great War
    In the centenary year of The Great War, we look at the group of highly-promising young artists who featured in John Currie’s 1912 painting “Some Later Primitives”. Mark Gertler, Richard Nevinson and Edward Wadsworth each encountered triumph and disaster.
