Sorry, this course is not currently available on the website. The usual reason for this to happen is that the course is either no longer running or has already run. If you believe this to be incorrect please contact us using our enquiry form.

Below are a selection of courses that we are running, based on the subject of the course you were looking for:

  • Italian Renaissance Art in Oxford and London
This course will bring students into direct contact with visual images. The course will cover the art of the 15th and early 16th c. in Italy and will use images available in the collections of Oxford and London as the starting point for class discussions.
  • Looking at Art in Oxford
This course will enable students to appreciate works of art and share their understanding and enjoyment with others. Sessions will take place in front of the images, in the Western Art galleries of the Ashmolean Museum and Christ Church Picture Gallery
  • Kandinsky
We study Kandinsky & the Blue Rider Group - the spirituality of Franz Marc, the joy of August Macke, the imagination of Marianne Werefkin, the tenderness of Gabriele Münter, the music of Schoenberg and the publisher, R. Piper, plus a visit to Munich.
  • Learning to Look at Western Architecture (Online)
This course is designed to enable students to ‘read’ the architecture of the Western world in a critically informed way. You will learn to recognise and differentiate between the major architectural styles of the western tradition.
  • Modernisms: The Art of Extremes 1914 - 1945
The period 1914-45 is the high test of artistic modernism as the forces ranged against it coalesce and the term itself is reforged; never again will the debates about the public role of art assume such critical importance - or prove so vitally engaging.
