    This course introduces students to the discovery of the ancient southern Levant, first by biblical scholars and later, as their discipline developed, by archaeologists.
  • Early Humans and the Origins of Art
    This course explores the origins of art, culture, and modern humans. We start with our ancestors over 100 thousand years ago on the African savannah and end in Southern France with the magnificent painted caves of the last ice age.
  • Rome's Emperors: Part 2
    This course offers an exploration of the history and culture of Ancient Rome from the 'Year of the Four Emperors' to the Emperor Domitian.
  • Roman Italy
    This course provides an overview of the development of Roman culture from the end of the Bronze Age to the Byzantine reconquest. Italy was a melting pot of different cultures and this course shows how they were fused together under the Roman Empire
  • William the Conqueror - a true Agamemnon, King of Men
    This course will re-asses the importance of William the Conqueror to English and European history. Was he a lucky opportunist or a ‘true Agamemnon, king of men’. The impact of all aspects of the Norman Conqueror will be examined.
