Below are a selection of courses that we are running, based on the subject of the course you were looking for:

  • Philosophy and Cosmology: Can We Ever Fully Understand the Universe?
From the Big Bang to black holes and dark energy, we will explore the deepest cosmological mysteries by pondering the limits of our knowledge of the universe as a whole, and by discussing the principles that determine our comprehension of it.
  • The Foundations of Modern Political Thought
Six 19th century political thinkers did more than any others to lay the foundations of 20th century politics and political thought: Tocqueville, Mill, Hegel, Marx, Durkheim and Weber. This course is an introduction to their work and ideas.
  • Treat Others as you would like them to treat you: The Key to Ethics?
First we analyse this maxim. Then we build on it aided by great philosophers of the past & recent research. We then apply these ideas to issues such as love, friendship, future generations, difficult people, dilemmas, careers, business & weakness of will.
  • Philosophy of Religion (Online)
The course looks at what, if anything, it is that Jews, Christians, and Muslims are agreeing about when they claim that there is a God; and we shall look at what, if any, prospects there are for rationally defending or attacking this claim.
  • Concept of the Self
What is the self? While a sense of self is given to us in experience, what it is that is "given" raises questions that are not easily answered. Exploring a range of philosophical perspectives, we will develop our own views.
