  This day school will examine the four volumes of the ClavierÜbung chronologically, charting the development of Bach’s keyboard writing.
• Composition (1) Instrumental
  The course will cover the basics of composition by taking students through a series of straightforward, structured exercises, which are designed to emphasise the craftsmanship of composition and to stimulate the imagination

  Starting at the birth of opera in Italy around 1600 and ending in 'fin-de-siècle' Paris at the turn of the 20th century, this course will take a journey through operatic history pausing at ten important turning points on the way.
• Vienna and the Classical Style - Haydn and Mozart
  The classical period in Vienna saw momentous changes in musical styles and genres. This course will focus on the development of what became known as the classical style, concentrating particularly on the contributions made by Haydn and Mozart
