The classical period in Vienna saw momentous changes in musical styles and genres. This course will focus on the development of what became known as the classical style, concentrating particularly on the contributions made by Haydn and Mozart - Debussy`s Orchestral Works
In this day school Roy Howat will explain the compositional techniques that lie behind some of Debussy’s greatest works. - The Composers' Workshop
This is a practical course for those interested in composing music of any genre and will concentrate upon the skills common to all composition. - The Pianists' Workshop I
A practical class open to players of all levels. Piano technique, repertoire and interpretation will be explored in the context of workshops in which all students will have regular opportunities to play. Students may join this class in any term. - Vienna and the Classical Style - Beethoven and Schubert
The later classical period in music saw momentous changes in musical styles and genres. This course will focus on the final two decades of this period in Vienna, concentrating particularly on the contributions made by Beethoven and Schubert.
