Below are a selection of courses that we are running, based on the subject of the course you were looking for:
- Opera in Repertory
Each week we will study an opera that is currently in repertory, tracing the opera's evolution from its (usually) literary origins through to its production on stage.
- The Beatles, Popular Music and Sixties Britain
Learn how the Beatles made their music, and trace its development from simple first recordings to the multi-track Abbey Road. Their music is contextualized with songs by other British groups of the period, poetry, journalism, and key events.
- The Pianists` Workshop III
A practical class open to players of all levels. Piano technique, repertoire and interpretation will be explored in the context of workshops in which all students will have regular opportunities to play. Students may join this class in any term.
- The Craft of the Opera Composer
An opera composer must combine musical genius with a strong dramatic gift. This course traces the process of opera composition - the choice of subject; the creation of the libretto; setting the text to music and working with the singers in production.
- The Songs of Franz Schubert
This day school will explore his songs in depth, looking at Schubert’s approach to his texts and the characteristics of his writing for both voice and piano.
