A unique Master’s programme, developing the leadership potential of the next generation of surgeons.

For senior trainees in surgical disciplines and newly qualified surgical consultants and specialists seeking to develop skills and knowledge essential for modern practice in: evidence-based health care and medicine; becoming a medical educator; promoting teamwork and communication; surgical management and leadership; quality improvement science and systems analysis; and surgical technology and robotics.

With a flexible, modular framework, the part-time Surgical Science and Practice Programme has been devised to accommodate the structure of senior surgical training, so that it can be undertaken by those in full-time employment. The six taught modules from the MSc may also be taken as individual stand-alone short courses, and study between modules is supported by a rich virtual learning environment. MSc students will submit a dissertation, which can draw on a work-based project.

The Programme is delivered in collaboration with the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences, the academic department of Surgery of the University of Oxford.
