Dr Abdi Rafiee
Dr Abdi Rafiee teaches standard Farsi as spoken in Iran, which is also intelligible to the people of Afghanistan and Tajikistan. He has been teaching Farsi to non-Iranians since 1975.
Dr Rafiee completed his degree in translation (English/Persian) at the College of Translation, Tehran, and in 1975 he came to England to further his studies at the University of London, gaining a Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (Institute of Education, 1976); a master's degree in second language learning and teaching (Birkbeck College, 1979); and a PhD in Applied Linguistics (SOAS, 1992).
He is the author of the 2nd edition of Colloquial Persian published in 2001, followed by the 3rd edition in 2010.
