Open events 2016-17 at Oxford Continuing Education
Would you like resume your studies, or take previous study further? Attend an open event, and let us help you find your way. Oxford University's Department for Continuing Education has been providing part-time programmes for adult learners since 1878.
Larger Open Day events let you experience our teaching and learn about fees, funding and bursaries. Smaller events are specific to particular programmes, and offer a chance to meet course directors and discuss the programme in depth. All events are free and everyone is welcome. Please join us!
Open events from 2016-17
The open events for award programmes are finished now. A similar schedule of events for the academic year 2017-18 will be published in the autumn of 2017. Please click the links below to be taken to the course page for full information, and an email contact who can answer questions.
This open day is especially suited for those who are considering starting or resuming education. There are 20 separate events, including short lectures, workshops and informational sessions. Held at Rewley House in Oxford, this event is part of the Oxford Open Doors festival. All are welcome.
Can there be such a thing as a ‘moral’ war? Can it ever be right to kill innocent people, even in self-defense? How do autonomous weapons, remote control weapons and drones change the landscape of warfare, and our thinking about it? Join us for a panel discussion among experts. The event is free and all are welcome.
Thursday 17 November 2016 - Open Afternoon for the Master's in Literature and Arts
The MSt in Literature and Arts will hold an open afternoon from 2pm, at Kellogg College, 62 Banbury Road, Oxford. Attendees will be able to meet the director, administrator and members of the tutor team and learn about the course. There will also be an opportunity to look at the college and to see the facilities at Rewley House. If you would like to come, please let the administrator know at email@example.com.
Saturday 12 November – Open Morning for the MSt in the History of Design
The first of two Open Mornings for the MSt in the History of Design course will take place at Rewley House, 1 Wellington Square on Saturday 12 November 2016, 11am – 12pm. The Open Morning presents an opportunity for you to meet the Course Director, Dr Claire O'Mahony, and to learn more about the course. Friday 6 January 2017 – Open Evening for the Foundation Certificate in English Literature
Our first open evening of 2017 is for the Foundation Certificate in English Literature, which will take place at Rewley House on Friday 6 January 2017. For those interested in studying English Literature on a part-time basis at undergraduate level, the Open Evening offers prospective students a chance to see the Department, to meet with the Course Directors and to discuss the course. A further open evening for this course is planned for Friday 14 April 2017. No need to book - just show up for a prompt 6pm start!
Tuesday 10 January 2017 – Open Evening for both the Postgraduate Certificate and Master's in Historical Studies
For those thinking of applying to postgraduate courses in Historical Studies, an Open Evening will take place on Tuesday 10 January 2017, at Rewley House, from 5pm-6:30pm. Tuesday 7 February 2017 – Open Evening for Undergraduate courses in Archaeology
If you are thinking of applying to either the Undergraduate Certificate in Archaeology or the Undergraduate Diploma in British Archaeology, and would like to find out more, there is a joint open evening for both courses, taking place on Tuesday 7 February 2017, from 6pm. Held at Rewley House, the Course Directors and other staff will be on hand to meet you and talk you through what the course involves.

Saturday, 18 February 2017 - Open Day, held at the Banbury Museum
Our second general open day of the 2016-17 year is being held at the Banbury Museum, and features a range of talks and workshops: family history, creative writing, study skills, local history, philosophy and more. There will be guided gallery tours and activities for children too. Banbury town is in north Oxfordshire, easily reached by road, rail and bus. Full information and registration.

An Open Evening for the Undergraduate Diploma in Creative Writing is due to take place at Rewley House on Thursday 23 February, from 6.30pm until 8.30pm. You are invited to visit the Department to meet the Tutors, and to discuss the course in more detail plus any queries you might have.
