Places of Worship in Britain and Ireland

This is not a research project as such, but a series of publications arising out of an annual series of residential weekend events on the theme of Places of Worship in Britain and Ireland, each of which aims to provide an overview of current research on buildings and worship in a particular period. The end result will be nine volumes which, although not attempting to be comprehensive, will in principle cover the buildings of all major religions, denominations and types of religious institution which have existed from the introduction of Christianity in the late Roman period to the present. Publications, as they become available, are within the series ‘Rewley House Studies in the Historic Environment’, produced by Shaun Tyas of Donington.
