Data Science and Fake News

Overview

In this one-day course we will introduce you to the concept of Deep Fake technology and its social impacts across society. The day will include some hands-on exercises.

Videos where faces and voices have been swapped/edited are known as Deep Fake. Deep Fake primarily uses two type of technologies, namely artificial intelligence and data processing to fabricate images and sounds in order for the digital content appear to be real. This technology allows one to change face and hair style, gender, age and other attributes using a simple application that can be downloaded on a Smartphone or a PC.

Please note: You are advised to bring your own laptop for participation in the practical elements of this course.
