Get Blogging



Overview

'Get Blogging' is a practical, hands-on course that shows you how to start and write a successful blog to improve your profile, credibility or website ranking on search engines be you an academic, business, or just blogging for fun.

The course begins with a short overview of the benefits of blogging, and quickly gets gets you started on your own blog, using Wordpress.

During the day you will also learn, for example, how to expand your blogs content with links, photos and video content and; how to improve its design and features with widgets.

Training is provided by means of classroom teaching and practical exercises carried out under guidance.

The sessions cover: What is a blog / The benefits of blogging; how to set up a blog; increasing your blogs effectiveness and how to keep your blog going.

The only prerequisites for this course are enthusiasm, a working knowledge of computers and a readiness to learn new software.

Please note

Our computers are PCs and not Apple Macintosh.

Delegates without an existing wordpress blog also need to be able to access their email accounts to register a new blog. Please come with all the information you need to log-in to or create your blog (website, password details).

Accommodation

Accommodation is often available in Rewley House for those who wish to stay on the night before a course. Please contact our Residential Centre on 01865 270362 for details of availability and prices.

Fees

Tuition fee: £87.00
Baguette lunch: £4.70

Funding

If you are in receipt of a state benefit you may be eligible for a reduction of 50% of tuition fees.

If you do not qualify for the concessionary fee but are experiencing financial hardship, you may still be eligible for financial assistance.

Mr Robert Bullard

Tutor

Robert Bullard is an Oxford based writer, editor and trainer in writing skills (perfecttext.org). He has been helping businesses and individuals with their writing since 2003, drawing on his previous experience as a feature writer for national broadsheet newspapers and websites, including the Guardian and The Daily Telegraph. He gives several training courses for the Department of Continuing Education.

Cezar Ionescu

Director of Studies

Associate Professor of Data Science, Department for Continuing Education, University of Oxford

Dr Cezar Ionescu is Associate Professor of Data Science at the Department for Continuing Education and Director of Studies in Computing and Mathematics.

His research interests include functional programming, dependently-typed programming, scientific computing, computing in schools, algorithmic thinking, synthetic populations.
