More subtle than training, more profound than facilitating, more flexible than chairing… group coaching offers the potential for greater results, achieved sooner, and with longer lasting impact. In this 4 day programme, whatever their starting point, using a fully blended learning approach (VLE, discursive, experiential and tutorial), we develop the confidence and skills of participants, while dovetailing an exploration of both core and emerging concepts in the field.
Topics covered include: the differentiation of group coaching; a contemporary approach to the theory of team, group, and individual growth; and managing multiple levels of personal awareness. We apply key concepts from psychology, group analysis, and systems theory, as well as following the complex unfolding of interpersonal dynamics in a group.
Suitable for existing coaches, trainers, facilitators and executives, students on the course will establish ways of developing their personal style of group coaching, consider how to integrate it in their own work (and/or life), and prepare to assess and enhance their performance as group coaches.

PLEASE NOTE - It is NOT essential for participants to have read these books - they are provided as background for those who are particularly interested.
This linked weekend course is accredited with 10 CATS Points at FHEQ Level 4. All students who enrol are expected to complete some coursework during the weekend. The coursework is fully integrated into the weekend teaching sessions and plenty of guidance will be given.

To introduce the essentials of group coaching, practice the core skills, then build on these in a supportive environment, so that participants will feel confident using them in their work, and day-to-day life.
1. To understand group coaching as an educational tool helping others to achieve change individually and collectively.
2. To have the knowledge and skills to apply group coaching in a variety of contexts.
3. To appreciate our own skill levels and appreciate ways to enhance them.
Large and small group discussion - variously led by the tutor and participants; self-reflection; triads; pre- and post-session tutor-led input via VLE (Moodle); online and offline peer dialogue.
1. be capable of explaining core concepts of group coaching to a lay person;
2. be able to assess the needs of people within a group, develop and implement an intervention plan, and monitor its effect; and
3. have a balanced perspective of their own group coaching development and plans to develop themselves further.
Students will prepare two short (750 words each) reflective pieces (one at the end of each weekend) based on their experience in the practical groups.
Students must submit a completed Declaration of Authorship form with any piece of work that is part of the assessment criteria. CATS points cannot be awarded without the aforementioned form.
