Lifelong Learning Pedagogies forum

Oxford Continuing Education's Lifelong Learning Pedagogies forum aims to support and promote research, scholarship and practitioner expertise in lifelong learning. The forum's scope is broad and inclusively conceived and includes consideration of pedagogical approaches to part-time undergraduate study; the experience of mature and returning learners; and enabling professional learning and development in the era of the Lifelong Learning Entitlement. 

The forum aims to: 

  • Promote collaborative research and scholarship, within Oxford, nationally and internationally on the pedagogy and practice of lifelong learning 

  • Showcase and support the resident expertise on lifelong learning practised by academic staff in the Department and across the University  

  • Provide a discussion and peer review context for colleagues’ research activities and outputs in this area 

  • Support the development of internationally excellent research in the field of lifelong learning 

  • Support and enable the strategic objective of the Department to develop as a centre for global excellence in lifelong learning.

Format   

The forum meets each term online or in hybrid mode and alternates reading group-style meetings with seminars and papers delivered by internal or external speakers.  

Meetings will be advertised via the Department website, LinkedIn page and other channels.
