All students registered on Weekly Classes are very welcome to become borrowing members of the Continuing Education Library. This includes students at external venues where book boxes are provided.
If you are on a course (except language courses) at Ewert House, you should receive a Library Registration card at your first class. Please bring the Registration card with you on your first visit to the Library. You will be issued with a Library card and you will be able to borrow straight away. Students on courses at other venues, and students on language courses at Ewert House, should register direct with the Library.
You can borrow up to 4 books at a time for a period of 2 weeks. You can also borrow up to 4 videos or DVDs, also for 2 weeks. You can renew loans, provided they have not been reserved by other readers, by phone, email or directly on SOLO, the Library catalogue.
For full details of how to borrow, return, reserve and renew books, please see Borrowing regulations
The Library is situated in Rewley House, which is on the corner of Wellington Square and St John's Street.

The Library has over 70,000 books covering all subjects. We also have a Local Collection of books relating to Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire, a Periodical collection and a Film collection on video/DVD. For more information, please see our full Library Collections guide. In this guide you will also find links to our Subject Resource Guides. These give you a few pointers to finding books on your subject in the Library, together with key reference works and periodical titles etc.
You also have access to all the electronic resources subscribed to by Oxford University. These include periodicals, reference works, biographical resources, digital facsimiles of historic books, image collections, Parliamentary papers, newspapers and databases. Library staff will be pleased to help you identify resources which may be useful, and to help you to use them. Your Class Tutor may also recommend resources. More information on Oxford University electronic resources can be found on our Electronic resources pages.
Oxford University electronic resources may be accessed in the Library, or in the Student Computer Room at Ewert House. Weekly Class students are unable to have access from outside the University network. However, many public library services now offer remote access to their members to a range of key reference works. Look for links on your public library web page. The Public Libraries on the Web website provides links to many UK public library service home pages.
There are of course many high quality, freely available, information sources on the internet. The Library staff have listed a selection of sites by subject which may provide a useful starting point. OUDCE has been involved in the Sesame project to find and develop freely accessible academic resources. You can browse by subject, carry out keyword searches and check whether your tutor has linked resources to your course.
