Glenn Richardson
Glenn Richardson is Professor of Early-Modern History at St Mary’s University, Twickenham in London. He is the author of several books on Renaissance monarchs, on and on late-medieval and Renaissance international relations. His most recent book was Wolsey (2020) and he is currently working on a biography of Francis I of France, and a book on the battle of Pavia in 1525. He has taught many OUDCE courses on aspects of the Renaissance and the monarchies of England, France and related topics.
Courses
The course investigates the causes and consequences of medieval Europe’s longest war.
Renaissance popes were monarchs who accumulated spiritual, political and cultural power. This course examines how the Curia worked to increase papal authority and considers the dynastic, cultural and political significance of the main Renaissance popes.
The course examines the life and career of England's 'Renaissance Cardinal', Thomas Wolsey, founder of Oxford's Cardinal College, now Christ Church.
