Elena Draghici-Vasilescu
Dr. Elena Ene D-Vasilescu is a Lecturer in Church History and Doctrine at the University of Oxford. She teaches and researches in the fields of Byzantine Philosophy/Patristics as well as iconography for the University of Oxford. Among her latest books are Heavenly sustenance in Patristic Texts and Byzantine iconography. Nourished by the Word,Palgrave, 2018, Visions of God and ideas on deification in Patristic Thought (co-ed. Courses
Two Empresses, Irene and Theodora II, concluded the iconoclastic controversy in the Byzantine Empire with favourable decisions concerning the use of images. The course will indicate how they managed such an endeavour.
