French Language Weekend: Advanced

Overview

A fun and interactive weekend at C1 Level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

At this level, the class activities are based on topics relating to the cultural, political, and social practices in contemporary societies where the language is spoken. We will practise some complex grammar structures, idiomatic expressions, and a wide range of lexical repertoire. Participants will be encouraged to critically analyse and evaluate the course materials.

Beginners and Intermediate levels are also available.

Please note: this event will close to enrolments at 10:00 BST on 22 April 2024.

Level and demands

To benefit from the course, participants are expected to be near or at C1 Level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). They will be fairly fluent and able to follow extended speech, live or broadcast, even when it is not clearly structured, or when meaning is implied and not explicitly stated. A range of sophisticated grammar structures and lexical repertoire is required.

Should you find, or should your tutor suggest, that you are not at the right course level, and you wish to be moved up or down a level, this will only be possible if a place is available in the level you wish to move to. You are advised to speak to the Day and Weekend Administrator after the first session on Saturday morning. You will find them in Lecture Room 5, where tea and coffee will be served during the breaks.
