The existence of evil in the world provides the principal (philosophical) grounds to question God's existence. This is referred to as 'the problem of evil'. This course considers the problem of evil rationally and rigorously.
An introduction to the origins and early historical development of Islam; its key text, beliefs, ethics and practices; and its main mystical element, Sufism. An introduction also to the thought of some of its most influential early philosophers.
Religion has been highly important to human beings. This course considers two great religions of India, Hinduism & Buddhism. It considers them in terms of their origins & early development, their key texts & beliefs, and their ethical foundations.
