Charlotte Jones
Dr Charlotte Jones is Leverhulme Early Career Fellow at Queen Mary, University of London, and a former lecturer at St Hilda's College, Oxford. Her research focuses on the novel, literary realism, philosophy and politics.

What is ‘Modernism’? How did writers in the early 20th century – from James Joyce and Virginia Woolf to TS Eliot and HD – ‘make it new’? This lively course will read a selection of poetry and prose to explore an experimental, daring period of literature.
Charlotte, Emily and Anne Brontë wrote some of the most distinctive and celebrated fiction of the early nineteenth century. This course explores how they navigated themes such as the supernatural, religion, female empowerment and sexual desire.
