Week 1: Oxford Experience
Experience Oxford life
The Oxford Experience is a residential summer programme aimed at non-specialists aged 18 and above, providing over 80 week-long courses in a range of subjects. Seminars meet each weekday morning, with afternoons free for course-related field trips, individual study, or exploring the many places of interest in and around Oxford.
During your course you will sample life in Christ Church, one of Oxford’s most impressive and beautiful colleges. Courses that will take place during Week 1 of the programme, Sunday 2 - Saturday 8 July 2023, can be found under 'Upcoming Courses'. To view all courses, please click 'Full listing'.
Social programme
Alongside the optional and free social activities held throughout the programme, Week 1 participants will be able to purchase tickets to the following social events:
- Walking tours (£8): Choice of one of two walking tours, led by expert local guides. Tuesday afternoon at 2pm.
- Upper Library Concert (£10): String quartet concert, hosted by eminent instrumentalists local to Oxford and held in the Christ Church Upper Library, a building dating from 1717 and housing around 40,000 books. Monday afternoon (week 1 only) at 4.30pm.
- Excursion (£40): Visit to Kelmscott Manor, a limestone manor house in the Cotswolds village of Kelmscott, dating from around 1570. Wednesday afternoon, 1.30-5.30pm.
- Drinks tasting evening (£10-15): Thursday evening, 8pm.
Events are subject to change. Tickets will be available to purchase in Spring 2023, all participants will be notified when they are available.
