Building on their research and teaching, Bill Finnegan and Isobel Talks will provide a general introduction to key concepts in environmental sustainability, and explore a number of green skills related to life and work. You will leave the day with more confidence about concepts they might encounter in the media (e.g. net zero, 1.5 degrees, SDGs) and tangible ideas for applying green skills in their personal and professional lives.
Drawing on the big ideas from environmental, sustainability and climate education, this event will explore three categories of ‘green skills’:
- Green skills for work – skills for the workplace that apply to all jobs and specific career paths related to sustainability
- Green skills for life – skills and competencies related to sustainability that can help you at home and in your community
- Green skills for transformation – skills related to individual and collective resilience, adaptation and transformation
The transition to a more environmentally sustainable society will involve both challenges and opportunities. Join us for a practical, accessible introduction to ideas that are shaping the worlds of business and politics, and to learn how you can actively participate in the green transition.
Please note: this event will close to enrolments at 23:59 BST on 9 October 2024.
