Miguel Farias is an experimental psychologist, former Lecturer at Oxford University, founding director of the Brain, Belief, & Behaviour Lab, co-author of ‘The Buddha Pill: Can Meditation Change You?’, and lead editor of the Oxford Handbook of Meditation.
Courses
This course will introduce students to the richness of meditation practices from various religious traditions. We will explore the aims of these practices, their use of psychophysical, cognitive, and emotive techniques, and their effects.
Mindfulness is studied and practiced widely but this is only one among hundreds of meditation techniques. We will spend two days examining and experiencing meditation practices developed by various spiritual traditions.
