Professor Jonathan Michie

Director of the Department for Continuing Education

Biography

Jonathan is Professor of Innovation and Knowledge Exchange at the University of Oxford, Director of the University's Department for Continuing Education, and the 2nd President of Kellogg College. From 2004-2008 Jonathan was Director of Birmingham Business School and a member of Council at the University of Birmingham, where he was Professor of Management. He previously held the Sainsbury Chair of Management at the University of London where he was Head of the School of Management & Organizational Psychology at Birkbeck College. Prior to that he was at the Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, where he was also a Research Associate of the ESRC Centre for Business Research, and a Fellow and Director of Studies in Economics at Robinson College. He worked for the consultancy company Analysys Ltd, and as an Expert to the European Commission in Brussels, before moving into academia.

Jonathan is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, on whose Council he serves, chairing their Audit & Risk Management Committee, and with Professor Sir Cary Cooper he edited the Academy's 2015 volume on Why the Social Sciences Matter (Palgrave).
